Gears Pro Circuit London

Panda Global’s Gears of War 4 team headed across the pond for the Gears Pro Circuit, held at the Gfinity Arenas & Studios in London. Thirty-two teams from around the world descended on the British capital to compete for a hefty $150,000 prize pool and ranking points.

The tournament kicked off on Saturday (Dec 1) with our Pandas competing in an open bracket for one of four spots in pools versus the invited teams. They made quick work of the bracket, securing 2-0 victories over Vanquish [7-4, 7-1] and DVile [7-0, 7-1] to advance to the next stage.

Round robin pools first pitted the Pandas against Torpedo Gaming for another 2-0 win [7-1, 7-0]; after which they encountered their first real competition -- Europe’s best: Epsilon. Two close games [7-4, 7-6] resulted in the team’s first loss of the weekend (0-2). Unphased, our boys went on to best Millenium [7-0, 7-2] to earn the place of second seed in the Winners Champion Bracket on Sunday.

Sunday started off on rocky footing, with Panda Global tossed to the Losers side by eUnited (0-2). The team picked it up once again, taking out Vitality [7-3, 7-1] to secure a spot in the Top 8. However, their run was cut short at 7th place: After taking EnVyUs to a third map, the Pandas fell (1-2).

Overall, the fledgling roster put up an impressive fight in London: Giving established teams a run for their money, and proving their worth among the Top 8 at the first stop along the $1 million dollar pro circuit.
